Factoryville Fire Police

Fire Police have a long history in Pennsylvania, dating back to 1896 in Crawford County. Over time, Fire Police units became an important part of fire organizations across the Commonwealth, providing support at emergency scenes and community events.

In 1941, Fire Police became formally recognized under Pennsylvania law, establishing baseline authority and responsibilities for appointed members. This included limited police powers related to protecting emergency responders, maintaining scene safety, and assisting with traffic and crowd control.

Over the years, the role of Fire Police continued to expand. Additional authority allowed Fire Police Officers to assist at non-emergency events when requested, including parades, funerals, public gatherings, and other community functions. Pennsylvania law also provides Fire Police with limited authority under specific circumstances to help maintain order and support public safety.

The Fire Police Officers of the Factoryville Fire Company serve in a vital support role during emergency incidents and community events. Their duties may include traffic control, crowd control, scene security, responder safety, and assisting incident command with maintaining a safe working environment.
